Bird on railing

This is a watercolour painting of a bird standing on a railing surrounded by some trees. The railing is fully black except for the top where I attempted to show where the light was hitting the railing. With the trees I started with a base layer of the lightest colours and started building up patterns with darker colours. I added some green leaves and used a white gel pen to add some highlights to the birds eye and feathers.
